Hair Styles and Teenage Girls

The day at the salon taught me a few things more about teenage girls and their hair. A 1 hour appointment turned into a 4 hour appointment. We were just suppose to go and get my daughters hair trimmed for cheerleading. Unforunately we had to have a trim, a highlight and a streak of hot pink put in. I was not aware that streaks are now in but they are. And the brighter the better. I agreed to the hot pink for one reason because next month is breast cancer awareness month. Thoug I know by next month the streak will have to be a school color for the games. I just dont get why teenage girls have to highlight their hair blonde. My teenage daughter is what I call a autumn blonde, not now though. It looks good on her since she is naturally tanned. At first I wouldnt let her streak it then I had to sit there and listen to all the reason she needed her hair done and all her friends were there getting theirs streaked. Take my advice never and I mean never take your teenage daughter to the hair salon with her friends. Anyway back to the story, I heard look how good it looks on Chris, everyone else will have theirs done and I will look dorky, its my hair all the reasons and excuses that she could think of she said. Finally I just gave in. I dont know how they sit there and can smell those chemicals, it smelled awful. After the highlights, the pink streak and the trim to make it perfect, which consisted of having a layered back,crooked bangs that will not stay out her eyes, and a shoulder lenght cut we finally could leave. This is getting to be a regular thing with my daughter. She changes her hair at least every other month. Of course all these girls thought they were it yesterday. And they were quite pretty. Teenage girls and their hair is an obsession. My daughter is constantly looking in the mirror at her hair and brushing it or fixing it the perfect way. And please dont mess with the hair. She gets so upset if she cant find a brush and hairspray to fix it right away. As I was told a girls hair is her treasure. Its what makes their face beautiful. Go figure. I dont have her phone to download her new doo but as soon as I can get it without her on it 24-7 I will post them for you to see. Mothers out there beware of beauty salons with your daughters!!! You may go in with your daughter but you will surely walk out with someone different.
